Buckfastleigh Rangers 0-9 Okehampton Argyle |
Argyle ran the show from start to finish and the score could have easily been higher and into double figures. Buckfastleigh were left chasing shadows from the very first whistle with Argyle playing some delightful pass and move football all over the pitch, and they soon found themselves 3 - 0 up with an Adam Mortimer hat trick inside 25 minutes. Steve Williams added Argyles fourth on 30 minutes when he lobbed the keeper, and Mortimer got his fourth and Argyles fifth just before the interval.
Credit must go to Buckfastleigh for not giving up and they came out in the second half and forced a couple of early corners, but Argyle soon settled and dominated play again. Buckfatleigh could not cope with the pace of the Argyle attacks and Steve Williams sent in a good cross from the right wing for Matt Mortimer to score from close range. It was Williams again down the Argyle right wing that sent in a cross - this time it was brother Adam Mortimer that slotted in at the back post making it 7 – 0.
Matt Mortimer got his second goal from a Steve Williams through ball and Robbie Miller completed the route with his first goal for a very long time and Argyles ninth. It was great to see the strikers finding the net at ease, but this was thanks to a terrific all round team performance that everyone must take credit for.
