Okehampton Argyle FC

Clyst Valley 1-1 Okehampton Argyle

Venue: Winslade Park Avenue

Both teams battled hard to share the points, with Clyst Valley being the better in the first half. Argyle's defence of Michael Vernon, Tim Williams and Matthew Mortimer had to be at their best to keep them at bay. Unfortunately, Okehampton had to re-shuffle their team when on 15 minutes James Williams pulled up with a hamstring injury that ended his game. Adam Mortimer came on and added some threat to the Aryle strike force, but it was Clyst that seemed to be applying most of the pressure and winning set pieces from a game that was stop-start due to the amount of free kicks that were awarded.
This frustrated Argyle, and midfielders Phil Evans and Mark Burdus picked up bookings in the process. Okehampton started brightly in the second half, and were unlucky when the ball bobbled around in the Clyst area, but somehow did not find the back of the net. This passage of play seemed to inspire Okehampton and Steve Kinsey opened the scoring- when being challenged by twwo Clyst players he unleashed a great shot from outside the area that beat the keeper to the bottom corner. Okehampton continued to enjoy possesion and were unlucky not to increase thier lead on a couple of occasions.
Well into added time Clyst won a corner and the ball was headed to the back post where Steve Williams tried in vain to clear his lines. He was unable to do this, and Clyst levelled the score with barely enough time to take the restart.
