Okehampton Argyle 4-2 Clyst Valley |
| Venue: Simmons Park |
Okehampton started brightly and soon got their passing game going, stretching their opponents. James Williams opened the scoring
for Argyle when he followed up his own powerful strike and scored the rebound. Clyst enjoyed some good periods of play but
it was Argyle that added to their lead when Warwick Botham took a free kick from the half way line. Somehow the Clyst
keeper managed to let the ball go through his hands unchallenged.
Steve Kinsey worked tirelessly for Argyle, with some
superb runs down the flanks, supported well by Robbie Miller, Adam Mortimer and Steve Williams, who proved too strong for the
Clyst defence. Argyle were soon three goals up when Steve Williams chipped the keeper from close range. Just when it
looked like Argyle were going to win easily Clyst scored from a penalty. Argyle increased their lead once again when Robbie
Sandercock sent in a superb corner which Adam Mortimer volleyed home. With 15 minutes remaining Clyst refused to be
beaten and added a second, making the game a tense finish for Argyle.
