Thorveton 1-3 Okehampton Argyle

Venue: Raddon Road

Thorveton started strongly and it took a while for Okehampton to get hold of the game. Their best chance came from a RObbie Sandercock corner, finding Tim Williams with a powerful header that flew off the cross bar. Argyle set the pace in the second half and both strikers created chances, Steve Kinsey bet two defenders and fired in a powerful shot that the Thorveton keeper did well to save, then Robbie Miller headed a chance against the post and a Kinsey follow up shot was blocked on 50 minutes.
Robbie Sandercock beat the offside trap and with good control cut back inside, beating his marker to provide Kinsey with an easy tap in. Okehampton were dominating in all areas of the pitch and within minutes Robbie Miller added a second when he beat the offside trap and cleverly rounded the keeper to score, supported well by Kinsey.
Defender Micheal Vernon made the game safe for Okehampton with ten minutes remaining when he pushed forward, evading two challenges on the half way line. he decided to go it alone and struck a superb shot from 30 yards into the back of the net. With ten minutes remaining Okehampton made a treble substitute, bringing off Wills, Botham and Kinsey and replacing them with Agnew, Cann and Pollard. This seemed to break Argyle's rhythm a bit a Thorveton scored a late consolation goal with just a few minutes remaining.
