Okehampton Argyle 0-0 Totnes & Dartington

Okehampton continued their good run of form and held high flying Totnes & Dartington with another gritty performance. Argyle’s defence were once again superb and after a few poor performances earlier in the season, they now look a good unit only conceding one goal in the last three games and picking up a valuable seven points out a possible nine in the process.
The first half flowed from end to end in very difficult conditions without really creating any clear cut chances for either side in the first 30 minutes; the best chance of the game came when Argyle’s Adam Mortimer found himself in space and tried to round the keeper. In doing so he was bought down and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Robbie Miller to smash the ball to the keepers left but somehow the visiting keeper tipped the ball onto the upright and away to safety.
Argyle continued to work hard for each other and in fairness looked the more likely to score right up to the interval. Argyle started with Young Matt Sanders making his full first team debut on the right wing and he looks a very promising prospect.
The second half saw Totnes & Dartington come straight at Argyle and Daniel Malcolm in the Argyle goal had to be at his best on a pitch that started to break up a bit as the game went on. The Totnes & Dartington coach is ex professional John Gayle and he continued to shout instructions to his side, but Argyle worked hard all over the pitch and matched their opponents in every department.
Okehampton’s substitutes were Matt Mortimer for Matt Sanders on 75 minutes and Robbie Clarke for Steve Kinsey in the 80th minute.
