Okehampton Argyle FC

Okehampton Argyle 0-5 University

After a promising start to their new season with a well earned draw against Newton Abbot last week end, Argyle were well beaten by a lively University side that showed how important fitness is when having to grind out a result.
After a very entertaining first half and some superb goal keeping by both keepers honours were even at the interval, Argyle took a few minutes to settle but when they did they really looked a match for this energetic University side but failing to take some good chances in the first half proved costly for Argyle.
During the second half Argyle continued to play with their defence high up the pitch and the game seemed to swing towards the University when Argyles James Williams left the pitch with a pulled hamstring, Universities No 10 found a lot of space in behind the Argyle defence and opened his account on 52 minutes and went on to score four of his sides goals thanks to some really good support play by debut boy Matt Woodward playing wide on the right wing and getting in behind the Argyle defence on many occasions and providing quality crosses for his strikers.
Argyle were really feeling the pace of the game towards the final quarter and made further substitutions with Paul Yip and Robbie Clarke coming on for George Pitts and Adam Mortimer, University completed their scoring when a well worked move this time down the left wing saw their No 11 score at the near post after a good run showing a good turn of pace and composed finishing.
